1. Gaido’s / The Pelican Club
Gaido’s is over a hundred years old, and its neighbor The Pelican Club was once members-only. The food has retained its stellar reputation over the years. The restaurant focuses on seafood and New American cuisine. The menu has a great balance of seafood, steaks, and pasta with an excellent wine list and creative cocktails.
Try the Texas jumbo lump crab, a gorgeous plate of seafood that can be served with butter, an Au Gratin sauce, or an asiago cream. For dessert, try the huge Texas-shaped pecan pie. Gaido’s is a great place to go after you’ve spent a long day at the beach and are looking forward to a relaxed but elegant experience.
2. Shrimp n’ Stuff
Shrimp n’ Stuff has two award-winning locations, one on Avenue O and one on 23rd Street. Both locations feature the famous shrimp po’boy and the spectacular house-made shrimp gumbo. Olympia Grill has two locations. One location is focused on Greek cuisine and the other on seafood. The restaurant is family-friendly with a huge menu with something for everyone. The Greek specialties are fresh and authentic, from a braised lamb shank to gyros. If you have gone on a fishing expedition, bring your fresh catch and Olympia will cook it for you.
